Bluegrass Care Navigators need additional volunteers to support families served by Bluegrass Hospice Care in Pike, Floyd, and Magoffin counties.
Volunteers for the organization can support patient needs or assist with office-based activities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, volunteers have been supporting families through the Compassion from a Distance program. This program allows volunteers to complete a variety of socially distanced or virtual activities, such as delivering necessities and gifts to families, making weekly care phone calls, and providing companionship through phone or virtual visits.
“Hospice care has never stopped throughout this pandemic,” said community engagement coordinator Alison Casebolt. “Our patients and families still need us, and that means we need volunteers to support our families through their hospice care journey.”
Additionally, Bluegrass Care Navigators has adapted the volunteer training program with virtual onboarding and education. There is no cost to apply or be trained to volunteer with the organization. Volunteers can contribute as much of their time as they have available, and Bluegrass Care Navigators will work with each volunteer to pick activities that match the volunteer’s unique talents and interests.
As Bluegrass Care Navigators continues to serve more patients throughout Kentucky, we need more volunteers!
