Volunteers Provide Compassion to Patients at the 11th Hour

November 14, 2024

Our team goes above and beyond to provide expert, compassionate care at just the right time to our patients and families. But we provide more than compassionate healthcare. At Bluegrass Care Navigators, we believe that no one should pass alone.

Our 11th Hour Volunteer Program epitomizes our commitment to delivering the right care at the right time. These dedicated volunteers are trained to be by the side of patients without family nearby who might otherwise face their final moments alone. These individuals answer the call, no matter the time of day or night, to provide a caring presence when it’s needed most.

“Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization, providing the extra support and care that patients and families need,” Kelli Callihan, Volunteer Services Manager, said. “Whether providing respite care, 11th hour visits, veteran pinning ceremonies, care calls, transportation, bereavement calls, companionship visits, gift bag deliveries and more, volunteers help patients feel like family.”

Bluegrass Care Navigators celebrates its many volunteers and the compassionate care that they provide to patients each day. In the videos below, our volunteers share why she chose to be with others in their precious final moments in the video below.
